We supply new hydraulic spheres for Rolls-Royce and Bentley models from 1980 to 2003, both the brake accumulator spheres (CD 6000 GMF) and the rear suspension spheres (GMF 1039 or GMF 1106). Each sphere is supplied with a new O-ring (GMF 1225) and is ready to fit straight from the box. There is no preparation or recharging required.
These spheres are manufactured by IFHS in Belgium, operating under ISO 9001 certification and TÜV-tested (FTP 96/24694A/03, TZ-028141-A0-241). Threading is M36×1.5/6, diameter 35.85mm ±0.13mm. GMF stands for Green Mineral Fluid: the spheres are compatible with LHM mineral oil systems only and are not suitable for earlier models using DOT brake fluid (such as the Silver Shadow).
How many spheres does my car need?
A complete set for one car is four spheres: two brake accumulator spheres (CD 6000 GMF) and two rear suspension spheres (GMF 1039 or GMF 1106). We recommend replacing all four at the same time.
Which suspension sphere fits my car?
The correct rear suspension sphere depends on your chassis number, which can be found on your registration document or on the chassis plate:
Chassis 1001–6969: GMF 1039 (RR 14 bar pre-charge)
Chassis 6970 and above: GMF 1106 (RR 16.5 bar pre-charge)

What do these spheres do?
Brake accumulator spheres (CD 6000 GMF)
The hydraulic pump builds up pressure in the brake accumulator spheres, where compressed nitrogen acts as a pressure reserve for the braking system. This reserve allows for multiple brake applications even with the engine off. When nitrogen escapes through a failed membrane, the accumulator no longer stores pressure and the hydraulic pump becomes the sole source of brake pressure. It is not designed to function that way, and typical symptoms of failed accumulators are a warning light that does not extinguish on start, and a soft or unresponsive brake pedal.
Rear suspension spheres (GMF 1039 / GMF 1106)
The rear self-levelling suspension on these cars is hydropneumatic. The nitrogen charge inside the suspension sphere acts as the spring medium, absorbing road input and maintaining ride height under varying loads. A sphere with a failed membrane results in a hard, bouncy ride and loss of self-levelling at the rear (no nitrogen means nothing to cushion impact).
