Citroën accumulator sphere, produced by IFHS, Belgium. Usually fitted in the engine bay, close to the high-pressure pump unit. It acts as a high pressure accumulator (the regulator cycles between 145 and 170 bar) and evens out pump pulsations, so that brakes, steering and suspension system have a steady supply. A worn sphere makes the pump cycle often, and has pressure drop quickly after use or switch-off.
